However, it has now decided to take a step further and invest in text-based content with its new app: Threads.

What is Threads?

In July 2023, Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of the new app Threads, the latest venture from the Meta multinational developed by the Instagram team. Just 7 hours after its release, the app recorded over 10 million users. Following a strong start, the conglomerate of platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram itself seeks to expand and delve into the world of digital content creation through the text format. In Spain, it has been available since December 14, 2023.

According to the platform itself, Threads is an application aimed at sharing text updates and fostering public conversations. In this way, content creators can express their opinion on a topic with their followers and initiate debates through written communication. A new solution for people looking to read and share information on a simple and free platform.


How does it work?

The new Meta app functions as a microblogging social network. In other words, users can create text content of up to 500 characters, allowing them to develop a topic in a simple and concise manner.

When exploring other people's posts, Threads allows users, like Instagram, to follow other creators, keeping us informed about what other businesses, experts, and our network of contacts are publishing. Additionally, it features an algorithm similar to Instagram's, which helps discover content from unknown users as long as they discuss a topic of interest to you.

Additionally, you can customize your profile to your liking to make it visible to everyone. Alternatively, you can keep it private so that only your followers can read your content. You can also customize notifications based on whether you want to see all of them or just replies, mentions, or interactions with verified accounts. It's up to you!
